What grinding does and does not do
Grinding removes the stump and the flare around it. It does not chase every lateral root out to the edge of the canopy, and it does not need to — those break down on their own once the stump is gone.
If you are laying sod or building a bed over the spot, say so at the estimate. That changes whether the grindings stay in the hole or leave with us, because turf laid over a bed of wood chips settles badly as they break down.
